mixed media, all of the art in this piece was from 2016-2017, when I was 12 or 13. my first introduction to eating disorders was online, through youtube mini biographies and instagram "thinspo." despite being a skinny child to begin with, i internalized the message of "never thin enough," and began having a disordered and unstable relationship with food. |

piece 4 - numb
watercolor, one of the first symptoms of restriction, "pins and needles" in your hands and feet, far more often than usual. dually about the body's inability to regulate temperature when starving, and the deep cold that happens. |
